I teach at Merrol Hyde Magnet School, an academic magnet school in Sumner County Schools. My teaching responsibilities include Spanish III Honors, Spanish IV Honors, AP Spanish Language and Culture, and AP Psychology. I also coach the high school quiz bowl team, coordinate our participation in the Volunteer State Seal of Biliteracy program, and serve on the school leadership team.
As a language teacher, I am passionate about helping my students build proficiency, because I believe that a strong command of the language opens doors to exciting new possibilities. I use a variety of authentic materials to help students learn about the language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking countries. I am humbled and proud that many students go on to study Spanish at the college level, use Spanish in their careers, and participate in service opportuntiies within Hispanic communities both in the United States and in other countries.
